Classic Black Denim Skirt That Won't Break The Bank

Happy Wednesday, friends! This week really has been testing me, but I'm trying to think positive thoughts! Tuesday I had the worst migraine in the world, yesterday morning my engine light came on (still acting like I don't see it), and halfway through the day my allergies decided to take over. Positive thoughts Alyssa, positive thoughts lol!

For todays Work Wear Wednesday post I wanted to share my take on the black denim skirt. There are so many ways you can go about styling this skirt, but I wanted to wear it to the office so I took a professional approach to it. I kept all the basics neutral which gave the skirt more of a dressed up look and finished it off with my favorite pink blazer. Not only was the blazer the perfect addition to this work look but it also allowed me to bring some of my personality in.

I totally understand that this look may not be considered 'work appropriate' for everyone, so if that's the case wear this look for a girls night out or dinner date! The black denim skirt is such a versatile piece that you can mix and match it however you'd like to fit your personal style and it's great to transition into your fall wardrobe. Also did I mention this skirt is only $11? You know I'm all about affordable fashion over here!

Inexpensive Overalls For Every Wardrobe

Happy Monday, friends! Tyler and I spent the weekend lounging around the apartment watching Harry Potter movies and it was so relaxing! I wish we could play hooky the rest of the week and be lazy some more 😂

All summer I have been dying to get my hands on a pair of short overalls, but honestly I just didn't want to spend the money on them. So when I found this pair for under $20 I was all for it. The reviews for them were skeptical - some loved the overalls, some thought they were a weird sizing. My opinion? The sizing is weird, I feel like they give your body no shape. But I also think they're a great inexpensive item to have in your wardrobe. I've worn these overalls twice already, once with a crop and another with a t-shirt, both times I wore them to run errands and they really are great for a day full of running around. This time around I decided to pair them with a white tank and pink Adidas for a subtle pop of color.

I wanted a pair of overalls because of how versatile they are. You can wear them literally anywhere and style half of the items in your wardrobe with them. Next summer I'll probably splurge on a pair from Abercrombie just to have a couple options, but if you're wanting to try out the overall trend or just simply don't want to spend a lot on a pair, these are a definite!

Classic Tee With A Fun Tassel Twist

Everyone has been talking about fall lately and I'm over here like no thanks, give me bright colors and sunshine all year long! I feel like I got so many fun pieces late in the season this year that I won't be able to get much use out of, so if you see me rewearing the same items a lot you know why 😜

This top is one item that I could kick myself for not getting sooner. It's a basic tee with a fun twist that I'm absolutely loving! Not to mention it comes in eight different colors and is under $12, yes UNDER $12. This is one of the items I got in my most recent SheIn order and I'm wearing a size small for sizing reference.

I've worn this top twice already and each time I took a casual approach to it by pairing it with plain denim shorts and some white denim. I'm thinking of styling it next with my favorite pair of pink dress pants and nude heels for a fun work look. And knowing me, I'll still probably transition this into my fall wardrobe by toning it down with some denim and a cardigan.

The Backpack Perfect For Work & Travel

A few months into starting my new job I began a hunt for a bag I could take to the office that was both professional and functional. For awhile I had been using a purse to shove all my work things in and that situation was not working out!

I originally saw a fashion blogger posting about a Calpak backpack she had received and I was like I have got to have that! Not only does it look professional, but it has so much room it was perfect to hold everything I needed for the office. They have regular backpacks and laptop backpacks, I obviously went for the laptop pack because that's something I always carry with me to work.

The back zipper has a spot specially for your laptop - it can hold any laptop up to 15 inches. You also have room to hold a couple folders or anything small in there. Then you go to the main section of the backpack which has three pockets added onto the already spacious compartment. I fit a clipfolio (a folder/notebook/clipboard combo), my planner, another folder, and my laptop charger and I still have room for more! This backpack is definitely perfect for the office and can also be transformed for travel. The backpack actually has a pass through on the back that was designed to fit on luggages making it easier to carry through the airport.

PS: Who noticed my dress was on inside out? Because I didn't until I was done shooting and already changed into my next look 😂

SheIn Review: Is It Legit?

Happy Monday! A few weeks ago Tyler and I decided to start saving money better which meant cutting back on eating out. The past couple of weekends we cooked at home and have had the most relaxing weekends! Seriously, I forgot how nice it was to lounge around all weekend not having to worry about anything.

I posted a few things about SheIn lately and have gotten a ton of questions about the site, so after receiving my first big package I thought it'd be the perfect time to share a review. Below are some of the FAQ's I've been getting a lot recently.

Is SheIn legit?
Yes, it's 100% real. I know when you see the prices of the items they have it's hard to believe, but I can assure you it's not a scam!

Is the sizing accurate?
I'd say for the most part the sizing is accurate. My mom ordered me a sweater for Christmas last year that was one size, it was a popular sweater that a lot of fashion bloggers owned and it fit them all great. Mine, however, was super small so I returned it. Everything in my recent order though fit as I expected it to. My biggest advice is to read the reviews. I had items in my cart that I really wanted, but after reading the reviews on sizing I decided against them.

How is the quality of the clothes?
You get what you pay for is the best way to answer this. For the price the quality is good, but it's not necessarily the greatest. Like I said above, read the reviews before purchasing something. Out of everything I ordered I ended up returning two tops, both of which had zero reviews. And don't get me wrong, I genuinely love everything else I ordered!

Does shipping take awhile?
It definitely takes longer than most places, but than again it does come from China. I got express shipping with my order (2-4 business days) but that doesn't include the processing time. Processing takes an extra 3-7 business days. My order took 11 days to get to me, so if you're wanting to order clothes for an upcoming vacation or event I'd for sure keep this in mind.

My biggest piece of advice would honestly be to just check the reviews before buying something. If it doesn't have any reviews I would probably pass or just take a chance and return it (your first return is free). You definitely can't beat the prices and I'll be purchasing from SheIn again! In the next couple weeks I'll be sharing some pieces I ordered as well, so stay tuned.
