Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the new A Small Town Fashionista!! I've been wanting to redesign my site for quite some time now and I figured with my one year anniversary coming up, what better time than now? I'm so pleased with the new look and while my site was under construction all last week I was able to put together tons of new content that I'm excited to share!

I was trying to find the perfect outfit for brunch one day--something cute and dressy but not too dressy. I was literally going insane because none of the outfits I was putting together did not work. Finally I just grabbed two simple pieces from my wardrobe and love the way it turned out! It's simple It's such a simple look but the leather skirt and white T-shirt combo fit together perfectly. I kept the accessories basic while sticking to the black and white color scheme, but you can opt for more colorful pieces. I decided to add my color through a pair of pink feather earrings.

* Note that some of the pieces I'm wearing were purchased over a year ago so I linked similar options.

Under Construction

Hi, everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful start to your weeks. I just wanted to give a quick update on my blog as to why I haven't been posting.

A Small Town Fashionista is currently under construction.. YAY! Next month will be an entire year since I started this blog so I decided it was time for a face lift. The blog should be up and running by Monday (fingers crossed) and while I won't be posting new content this work I'm working on tons of fun stuff for when I'm up and running again.

FabFitFun: Is It Worth It?

I've never really been into subscription boxes. I mean, I always thought they were cool but I never actually signed up for one. My mom signed up for FabFitFun and when she got her first box I was really impressed with everything that was inside--I wanted it all, lol. When she got her summer box I opened it and again, I was impressed. I asked her how much she was paying for all this stuff because I wanted to sign up as well. She gets tons of awesome products for only $50! I got my first summer box in the mail Wednesday and wanted to do a review of the products I got for those who don't know what FatFitFun is.

When you first open your box you see three things right off the bat--a mini newspaper telling you things like what's in your box, who designed the box, and some info on the products you received. Then I received a coupon for three free months of Salted Cooking Classes (if you're interested that's already saving you $30) and I also received a free sample of Vital Proteins dietary supplement for hair, skin, nails, joints and bones.

BKR Little - 500 ML water bottle: Retails for $35
This is literally the cutest little water bottle ever and it's pink! Definitly the perfect size to throw in your purse.

Michael Stars Ruana Scarf: Retails $54
I love this scarf and the print is so pretty. This will for sure be going in my luggage for the beach next month.

Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate: Retails $29
I'm super excited to try this product out! I have the worst dark circles under my eyes and I never know what products I should use that will actually work. Looking forward to seeing how it works!

Eau Thermale Avene Ultra-light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion: Retails $24
I'm not a fan of the sunscreen I just purchased. It's thick and I just prefer something else, so I'm happy I got some in my box! The box says it's lightweight and tested on sensitive skin, so I think this will be a win.

Cargo_HD Picture Perfect Highlighter in Bronze: Retails $30
I'm not really that big on makeup if it's not mascara, foundation, or a cute eyeshadow palette. I got a little swatch of it though to try it out and this is perfect. I think I might have to start using highlighter in my makeup routine!

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk: Retails $20
I love dry shampoo. I swear by Batiste Dry Shampoo so I'm interested in seeing how this brand works out. I'm thinking I'll have to do a review of the beauty products I received in this box after I've tried them all out!

Salted Himalayan Pink Salt Kit: Retails $26
I've never seen a product like this before so I'm kind of excited to try it out.

Kris Nations Mystic Bar Necklace: Retails $58
In the description for this necklace it says, "The stones are hand-cut by craftsmen in India and each one had an attribute that helps you live every day with position intentions." How cool?! It's also a super cute necklace.

The total of everything in this box (minus the free three month subscription) totals out to $276. So is paying $50 seasonally for a box full of products worth it? ABSOLUTELY. If you're interested in this fun box, sign up here and get $20 off your first box!

The Man Behind The Camera

I've had A Small Town Fashionista going since August of last year (almost one year!) and it takes a lot to keep it running. Patience, maintaining a schedule, dedication, to name a few. However, the number one thing that brings people to my page and makes A Small Town Fashionista what it is are my pictures. So todays post is going to be an appreciation to my man behind the camera because I feel like we don't appreciate these people as much as we should.

My boyfriend, Tyler, takes all of my blog pictures and there are no words for how thankful I am that he does this. I drag him out for hours every Sunday to shoot multiple looks and he never complains about it. He may do the occasional huff and puff and ask how many more outfits we have to shoot, but never a complaint from him. I mean really, I had him up and out at 7 a.m. on the Fourth of July just so I could have pictures for my post that day. He's such a sweetheart and I think being my photographer has grown on him a little ;)

My blog wouldn't be what it is without him and on top of it all, he takes amazing pictures. I think we found a winner here! I told him the other day that the day he marries me is the day he officially signs up for being my personal photographer, lol.

So here's to you, and all of the other blogger boyfriends, who deal with us not liking the way we looked in every picture that was taken and for taking the time to help us do something we love.

I love you forever!

Beach Bum

If I could spend my entire summer at the beach I would never complain ever again. The beach is by far the definition of happy place. My boyfriend and I got cruiser bikes for our beach weekend next month, but couldn't wait that long to take them for a ride so we took a day beach trip. After working 60 hours on my feet last week it was much needed.

When I go to the beach I obviously want to be in the least bit of clothes possible. These shorts are amazing! I purchased a black pair last summer and this summer I got myself another pair because of how relaxing they are. I've styled them so many ways, but they are by far the perfect beach short. And these shoes.. let me tell you. They were on sale and there were two sizes left, one of which was my size so obviously I was buying them. They were way too cute and fun to pass up!

Viva La Brunch

I hate spending forever trying to pick out something to wear when all I'm doing is running errands or meeting a girlfriend for lunch, which is why this outfit is one of my favorites. Lately I've really been into the graphic tees and tank tops. They're just super easy to style and always comfy--you can never go wrong with one!

I decided to style one of my favorite tanks with a pair of white cutoffs (because you can never go wrong with a pair of these either!) I accessorized the look with a fedora to add a boho vibe to it and love the way it turned out!

Pom Poms

Let me start off by saying there are barely any good spots to shoot at where I live. I feel like I'm always doing the same backgrounds and I needed change. Last week I had to travel about an hour away from where I live and my goodness, this shooting location was amazing! I am so obsessed with it and may just have to suck it up sometimes and make the hour drive to shoot here again.

This look though is a hands down favorite. I've been obsessing over these bell sleeve off-the-shoulder tops lately and this one is so fun. I love the pom-poms for the added color. I decided to style the top with a jean skirt and I am loving the way it looked. I brought out the tan lace-up sandals to keep the attention to the top and of course my fun Kate Spade purse. Definitely the perfect look for a day in the city or even a dinner date with the girlfriends.
